Top-tier orchestras, choirs, ensembles, and soloists from Serbia and abroad are, once again, bringing the magic of classical music to the Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS)—an event now entering its fifty-eighth consecutive year. From 17 to 30 October, the Belgrade audience will enjoy symphonic, opera, and chamber concerts under the slogan Music beyond Time—because classical music never goes out of style!
This year’s edition of the festival will feature performances by outstanding European orchestras: the Sofia Philharmonic under the baton of Nayden Todorov—joined by a favorite of the Belgrade audience, violinist Sergei Krylov—as well as the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra with conductor Leo McFall, and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Budapest.
BEMUS opens with a gala concert featuring stars of the Russian opera stage on 17 October at Kolarac Hall. Performing alongside the RTS Symphony Orchestra and Choir, under the baton of conductor Dušan Vilić, are leading soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the Vienna State Opera: soprano Tatiana Pavlovskaya, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Lukash, tenor Igor Morozov, baritones Vyacheslav Vasilyev and Sergey Kaydalov, and bass Gevorg Grigoryan. Belgrade audiences will enjoy the finest arias and excerpts from operas by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert is presented in collaboration with RTS Music Production.
Recitals will be given by Swedish violin superstar Daniel Lozakovich and legendary pianist Arcadi Volodos.
A gala concert will mark a significant milestone for Serbian culture—the fiftieth anniversary of the Collegium Musicum Academic Choir, whose conductor, Dragana Jovanović, now leads the ensemble along the path to success paved by her renowned predecessor, Darinka Matić Marović.
At the festival's closing on 30 October, we will enjoy a performance by the Belgrade Philharmonic, featuring eminent conductor Uroš Lajovic and pianist Lukáš Vondráček—winner of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels—who is making his debut before the Belgrade audience.
The list of top domestic performers is rounded out by the Corda Piano Trio, celebrated violinist Stefan Milenković with the Niš Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dejan Savić, as well as the Opera of the National Theatre in Belgrade.
Finalists of the RTS audition for the 2026 Eurovision Young Musicians competition will perform at the traditional concert of young Serbian artists.
Alongside masterpieces of the European musical heritage, the 58th BEMUS will feature world premieres of works by prominent Serbian composers Aleksandar Sedlar, Marko Nikodijević, Draško Adžić, and Jug Marković.
