MusMA at BEMUS Festival CONCERT & CREATIVE ATELIER Concert & Creative Atelier dedicated to the new generation of European composers are devised within the international MusMA project (Music Masters on Air) – European Broadcasting Festival, the only international project connecting festivals, composers, performers and European radio stations – EBU members. Belgrade Music Festival - BEMUS joined with utmost pleasure the family of 10 festivals – European Festivals Association (EFA) members creating jointly this extremely attractive project. The basic MusMA idea is to promote co-operation between the festivals and contemporary music, to initiate creation of new pieces and endorse young composers. At the occasion of Liszt’s bicentenary, the topic of commissioned pieces this year is Liszt & Landscape - piano compositions inspired by creations of the great composer, specifically his approach towards nature and surroundings. Lidija Bizjak, pianist will give a recital on Sunday, October 23rd at noon (Amerikana Hall of Dom omladine) premiering in Belgrade new pieces of 5 MusMA composers: João Godinho – Arson, Božidar Obradinović - Postman Cheval conquering time autonomously, Thomas Smetryns - On the Nature of Program Music, Nana Forte - A broken car and Vit Zouhar - Knots for piano. All these pieces were premiered in the framework of the great MusMA Atelier at the Granada Festival in June this year. An integral part of this unique project is a creative workshop with the participation of Nana Forte, Božidar Obradinović, Thomas Smetryns and pianist Lidija Bizjak. Beside the presentation of composers, the workshop will discuss performing aspects and co-operation between composers and their performers, as well as interpretation and presentation of new pieces. This is meant to be an inspiring interactive discussion of young composers, musicologists and performers. The event is to be attended by Isaline Claeys, MusMA chief co-ordinator from Flanders Festival and Vesna Kabiljo, Head of Programme Department in Jugokoncert.
