This year's MusMA Atelier took place from 27 - 30 June in the frame of the Festival Internacional de Musica y Danza de Granada which celebrates 40th anniversary. MusMA – European Broadcasting Festival is a special international collaboration project of 10 major European festivals, members of EFA (European Festivals Association) in a co-operation with European Radio stations, members of EBU.
Comprising  Master Classes, workshops, forums and concerts, European Atelier was the unique opportunity for composers to present their work, specifically new MusMA pieces commissioned by each festival - a piece for piano, lasting up to 5 minutes, on a unique theme - Liszt and Landscape.
Plentiful sessions formed  a summit-like event joining composers, pianists, festivals and media within creative interactive workshops where new pieces were performed and discussed – their style, as well as the practical and technical aspects and possibilities of their presentation. In addition to the presentation of new works at master-classes a special event – the MusMA concert – took place the last day of the Atelier, on June 30. Commissioned pieces of young composers were premiered at different evening concerts – recitals of prominent pianists, in the frame of the regular Festival’s program, involving also music of Franz Liszt.
Participants came from Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Serbia (Bemus Festival). Serbian delegation taking part in  the  European MusMA Atelier was composed of Božidar Obradinović, composer; Lidija Bizjak, pianist;  Jasmina Zec, Head of Music Program, Radio Belgrade II and Vesna Kabiljo, Head of Program Department at Jugokoncert and coordinator of MusMA project in Serbia.

The main focus of Music Masters on Air (MusMA) is the promotion of contemporary classical music as such, with the ambition to move people to more deeply discover the diverse sounds of new and innovative classical music. History demonstrates that young, creative artists and composers have new ideas, new visions and new means to continually invigorate this genre of music. Hence, they should also be given the chance to bring their creations to a public, outstretching the national boundaries. The essential reason for the creation of the Music Masters on Air is the great difficulty that young/new/emerging classical music composers experience in the promotion and distribution of their creations. The 10 major European festivals, with the patronage of the European Union, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the European Festival Association (EFA) want to contribute to solving this contemporary problem by launching this project. The goal of this initiative is twofold. The collaboration of festivals aims at encouraging young/new/emerging artists and composers to create new artistic work on the one hand. And on the other, the project intends to contribute to the mobility, circulation and promotion of those artists and composers, assisting them in establishing or expanding their international reputation.
General objectives:
The Music Masters on Air (MusMA) act upon 10 general objectives:
• Support artistic creativity in order to broaden creative skills, especially those of young and innovative artists and composers, so as to facilitate progress and change in classical music.
• Improve the dialogue between European and international composers from different countries, by providing them with the opportunity to meet and discuss contemporary music and to discover the opportunities presented by European countries other than their own.
• Innovate classical music by giving new, unique exposure to creative, artistic visions, bringing them closer to the public.
• Boost the reputation of young/new/emerging artists and composers, by providing them with the support they need to build a successful European/international career.
• Encourage other musically involved groups and media to cooperate with young/new/emerging artists and composers.
• Enhance the mobility of artistic ideas by stimulating the international circulation of young/new/emerging artists, composers, their work and creations, within a European frame.
• Promote creations, not only on the stages of the present 7 partner festivals, but also in parallel, via the networks of the national festival federations in each country and the European Festivals Association (EFA), as well as through media coverage.
• Encourage the intercultural dialogue by having the involved European and international festivals work together, on the promotion of young creative European and international artists and composers.
• Deliver a European message to the public, through classical music, by working in partnership with the European themes and seeking to incorporate them into the various aspects of our project.
• Establish sustainable relations among the various festivals and their broadcasting stations as to create a network able to team up for business.
MusMA project  2011 – 2013:
Each year the MusMA project has a unique theme, motto or key word proposed by a festival. Each festival selects one composer and his or her new piece shall be performed at least at five festivals.
The program for 2011 came from Spain: Piano solo composition (up to 5 minutes) inspired by environment and confronted with Liszt’s vision of a landscape. BEMUS Festival selected composer Božidar Obradinović.
Idea for 2012 entitled “The Exotic Occident” came from Belgium. It involves new pieces for three percussionists and one wind instrument (flute, clarinet or horn) not longer than 10 minutes. BEMUS suggested composer Ivan Brkljačić.
“Man and Music” is a Polish theme which is to be devised in 2013. It comprises a new piece for chamber choir (up to 12 voices and 7 minutes). This task was offered to composer Ana Gnjatović.

Coordinator in the name of  BEMUS for the MusMA project  is Vesna Kabiljo, Editor-in-Chief in Jugokoncert.
